My friend, Julie, joined me for this stretch. It wasn't an ideal day to go walking as it forecast rain for most of the day and it rained for most of the walk (luckily not too heavy). My bus pass got damaged and it was unusable so I had to buy a Metro Day rover. We had no choice but to finish the walk earlier than plan so I can make arrangements to replace my bus pass and arrange to get a contingency pass in the interim.
We got the 70/71 bus from Seacroft and got off at Main Street in Thorner. We turned off the road opposite Stead Lane and walked towards Kiddal and Saw Woods. It was a pleasant and sheltered walk through the woodlands and we arrived at the busy A64. We often pass the infamous Red Bus Cafe, permanently placed in the road's lay by, on our journeys up North, and we took the opportunity to pick up some drinks and continue our way.

Red Bus Cafe, A64 York Road |
Crossing the very busy A64 York Road we walked through muddy fields and ascended up, slippery in places, towards Barwick in Elmet. We just missed a bus so we had half an hour to kill in the village. I tried to keep dry and we used the toilets at one of the pubs (don't feel comfortable at all using the toilets at pubs/cafes unless I buy a drink or something) which the owners kindly let us do.
Back on the 64 bus to the city centre and to sort out my damaged bus pass at the bus station's travel centre only for me to call the head office on Monday to sort it out! How very inconvenient this is Metro! So I had to buy a contingency bus pass to tie me over until I get my replacement pass.
